Jaguar 4.2 E-type HD8 triple carbs and installation kit

This is a completely rebuilt set of three HD8 manual choke carburetors, fitted out to be appropriate to the 4.2 litre E-Type engine. All parts used in the rebuild are SU original equipment. The carbs are fully adjusted, ready to install, and are supplied with tuning instructions and gaskets.

The kit includes these items:

  • Custom re-piped fuel manifold, improved with the installation of a hose barb for the inlet, eliminating the troublesome compression fitting.
  • Brand new factory made SU choke rods to connect the front and rear carbs to the center carb
  • Re-piped overflow tubes for each carb
  • Gold cadmium plated spring brackets for the front and center carb
  • Three manifold and three air filter gaskets
  • Stock UM needles, although if you have a preference for a different profile, that can be substituted at no extra charge.
  • Twelve original Jaguar small OD lockwashers, needed for the tight clearances on the HD8 bodies around the mounting studs
  • Brand new identification tags correct for the 4.2 "AUC227 F,C, and R"
  • Brand new damper rods with the correct black plastic tops part number AUC 8115
  • Brand new choke cable clamp

Satin nickel plating has been applied to the uppermost steel components, including the re-piped parts. This duplicates the process used by Jaguar (no copper or chrome plating) and matches the new choke rods supplied by SU of England. Additionally throttle shaft seals have been installed as used on the 3.8 carburetors but left out of most of the 4.2 carbs.

This kit is warrantied for one year unlimited mileage, and assistance by phone or email is always available for as long as you own the car.

Volvo B18 - B20 Ultimate HS6 Carburetor Package

The carburetor package in the photo represents the Ultimate HS6 pair which can be built to order. In most cases the kit uses the three bolt air filter flange, and when available spring-loaded needles and concentric throttle springs. Fuel needles of any profile are available to provide optimum power and economy depending on the engine used. Gold cadmium plating and polishing are also available. Regardless of the carburetor bodies used, these carbs will provide the best power, most reliable long term service, and most appropriate fuel system appearance and sound for your vintage Volvo.

MGA Manifold

This is the appropriate manifold for the MGA 1500 engine using H4 carburetors. It has been caustic cleaned, bead blasted, and acid washed.$75.00

Rebuilt HIF44 SU carburetor for Volvo B21A engines

$270.00 for a complete rebuild of your carburetor, plus taxes and shipping. The rebuilt carb will be fully adjusted, modified for better flow and reliable idling, and include all gaskets for installation and tuning instructions"

Upgraded return springs for Volvo HS6

The early Volvo HS6 carburetor set used linear springs anchored to a tabbed manifold washer. Those springs rust and break over time, and unless replacements are chosen carefully the accelerator pedal effort may be too heavy or light. Island Automotion can now offer an upgrade to the later HS6 carburetor return springs, which are mounted on the carb itself. The concentric spring produces a smoother pedal effort all the way to wide open, and reduces the side loading of the throttle shaft. It looks good, works even better, and simplifies the look of the carbs. Check with us for other applications where this upgrade can be used. For both carbs at the time of rebuild the parts upgrade is $30.00. The parts are the longer throttle spindle nut, the concentric spring, and the extended choke lever bolt.

BMC H1 manifold

This manifold is correct for BMC A-series engines of 948 cc to 1098 cc using H1 carburetors. The Bug-Eye Sprite is an example of this application. It and has been cleaned completely and the runners have been blended to improve flow. $90.00
